As the groundbreaking Tujiamini initiative by SportPesa Kenya enters its forth month, the North Rift Valley region is set to be the next beneficiary of this transformative sponsorship program. And to ensure the region's immense talent pool receives the recognition it deserves, two esteemed figures have joined the judging panel – retired Great Britain masters track athlete and New Balance representative Andy Clement, and Dr. Edwin Kiptolo Boit, a local expert with a doctorate in sports and physical education.
After a successful opening three months that saw unique talents from music and sports rewarded, June's focus shifts to the North Rift, a region renowned for producing exceptional athletes, particularly in running and other athletic disciplines. However, Tujiamini's scope extends far beyond sports, inviting talents from all walks of life to showcase their abilities and vie for this life-changing sponsorship opportunity.
Clement's expertise as an established short-distance runner, coach, and New Balance athlete will bring invaluable insights to the judging process, while Dr. Boit's deep-rooted knowledge of the North Rift Valley will ensure that the region's best and brightest are given a fair and informed evaluation.
Joining these esteemed judges will be three representatives from SportPesa, forming a panel of five tasked with scoring each shortlisted applicant out of 50 points. As in previous months, the general public will also have a say, voting online to determine the fifth and final Silver award recipient, following in the footsteps of last month's public favorite, Meru RFU.
With goods and sponsorships valued at over 5 million KSh already awarded, the stakes are higher than ever for the North Rift's talented individuals. The addition of Clement and Dr. Boit to the judging panel not only bolsters the credibility of the process but also underscores SportPesa Kenya commitment to nurturing and sponsoring the region's exceptional talents.
