Fridah Ndinda’s pursuit of athletic excellence is headed in the right direction after finishing second in the 10-kilometre Expressway Run during the 2024 Nairobi City Marathon. Ndinda cut the tape in 34:12, after Edinah Kibiwott, who claimed victory in 33:25 to win Kes 60,000.

The fast-rising starlet from the Eastern Region received a major boost in her career after becoming the first woman to win the Tujiamini gold award three months ago, receiving training kits and mentorship benefits.

Reflecting on her recent success, Ndinda shared, *“I am very happy to have taken second place in the 10-kilometre Expressway Run. I attribute the win to the support that I received from Tujiamini after winning the gold award in the Eastern Region. Tujiamini provided me with training gear, supplements, and catered for my track fees, thereby lifting the financial weight off my shoulders. Even though I was aiming for first place, I wasn’t in the best physical state to achieve that, but I am preparing myself for the Standard Chartered Marathon where I’ll be targeting a win.”

SportPesa head of Public Relations, Mercy Kabui, also praised Ndinda’s progress. “As SportPesa, we are extremely proud of Fridah, knowing the challenges that she has gone through in progressing her career. Tujiamini is a testament to change, and Fridah shows just how much support can change one’s life. Since her win, she has been really motivated, and we hope that she will maintain the same winning spirit in her future competitions.”

Preceding the Nairobi City Marathon, Ndinda made her intentions clear upon securing victory at the prestigious Absa RUN YOUR CITYTSHWANE 10-kilometre race in South Africa, where she finished fifth in a time of 33:46.

“The support that SportPesa and Tujiamini have given Fridah and other athletes goes a long way in providing a platform for greatness. Fridah just came from South Africa recently, and her efforts have shown in the results she posted at this year’s Nairobi City Marathon. Anyone has the opportunity to win, and the possibilities are limitless,” said DBA Africa Director, Storm Trentham.

In 2023, Ndinda catapulted to the international scene after a runner-up finish in the 10-kilometre Gqeberha marathon in South Africa, becoming the first Kenyan woman to do so and setting the pace for her athletics career.

With her ambitions set for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Ndinda is currently working toward securing participation in the Diamond League next year.
