·  Applications for Gold and Silver awards from Eastern and North Eastern have until midnight on Tuesday 30th of April to apply.

·  Focus will shift towards North Rift Valley residents who have until 31st of May to apply.

Tujiamini a sports and talent initiative by leading online gaming firm SportPesa and managed in partnership with DBA Africa will close applications for its second region on Tuesday.

The 2nd month of the revolutionary campaign saw thousands of applications flood in, while we also witnessed our first winners being announced. The First region Central, Kenya saw winners hailing from Kirinyaga, Nyeri and Kiambu counties. Among them was the Kirinyaga Stars who walked away with a 3 year sports sponsorship package for they team playing in the regional league.

The Bronze winners were announced during the first week of April with 80 applicants from around the country being awarded for their talents. From weight-loss ambitions to footballers, Rubik’s cube specialists, chess players, dancing groups and sports academies, Kenya’s most talented were rewarded with the prize of 10,000ksh.

One notable aspect of this month's Tujiamini Bronze category was the ongoing communication from the winners, who provided updates on how they utilized the funds to achieve their dreams and expressed their gratitude through numerous thank-you messages to SportPesa and Tujiamini

During the second week of April excitement reached fever-pitch as silver and gold applicants scores were tallied and phone calls were made to the disserving winners.

Gold winner Samuel Muturi was over the moon to receive the award which will go towards helping him achieve his ambition to be the first ever Kenyan slalom kayaker to compete at the Olympics. The Tujiamini and SportPesa team was fortunate to visit Samuel in his home on the Sagana River where he literally left us gasping for air as he descended the Sagana rapids which sees him finish by dropping over a waterfall 12 meters in height.

It's fair to say the award went to a worthy applicant, who’s talents and dedication have seen him able to compete at a level unheard of in Kenya and establish a path for Kenyans to follow him.

Speaking on behalf of Tujiamini, Joseph Steventon from DBA Africa commented  “ Its fantastic to be able to unearth talents like Samuel, Kenyans are renowned for being talented at sports like long distance running, but all Kenyans know the talents across the country are vast and wide, it’s through Tujiamini that we hope to not only unearth these special talents but give them the support they need to reach that next level”.

Next up we will see the winners of the Eastern / North Eastern region being announced as we start to review applications from North Rift Valley.
