In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Julian Lenya Pule was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the prestigious Dala 7s tournament, earning recognition under the Tujiamini By SportPesa Bronze Category.

Pule, a 21-year-old winger and outer prop from Barding, Siaya, played a crucial role in Mount Kenya University's triumphant performance as overall Division Two champions. His exceptional agility, speed, and aggressive play style set him apart on the field, earning him the coveted MVP title.

"Winning as the overall Division Two champions mean a lot to me and my teammates," said Pule. "I'm truly humbled to receive the MVP award and grateful for my captain and teammates who believed in my ability to perform."

Pule's rugby journey began in 2017 at Agoro Sare High School, inspired by Kenya's national rugby sevens team, the Shujaa, winning the Singapore 7s in 2016. His passion for the sport grew throughout his high school years, culminating in his current position as a key player for Mount Kenya University's rugby team.

"I've always wished to play at Dala 7s since 2013 when I watched my idol Willy Ambaka play," Pule added. "It's a dream come true to not only participate but also receive this recognition."

The Dala 7s tournament, a highlight of Kenya's rugby calendar, showcases top talent from across the country. Pule's performance at the event marks a significant milestone in his rugby career, which has been built on 13 weeks (about 3 months) of intensive training for the 2024 SportPesa national sevens circuit.

Looking ahead, Pule expressed excitement for the upcoming Kabeberi 7s, where he hopes to continue his strong performance and further establish himself in the competitive world of Kenyan rugby.
