In a significant development for women's football, Greenblades SPASS has secured a groundbreaking sponsorship under the Tujiamini by SportPesa Kenya initiative, marking a new chapter in the Cheza Dimba tournament. This achievement comes amidst unexpected circumstances in the Western Region Cheza Dimba tournament held on August 2, 2024.

The Tujiamini Initiative made the difficult decision to cancel the men's tournament due to widespread non-adherence to the Cheza Dimba Tournament Rules and Regulations. Willis Ojwang, the Public Relations and Advertising Manager at SportPesa, emphasized the company's commitment to fairness and transparency in all its endeavors.

"Our decisions are always guided by the principles of fairness and transparency, ensuring that all participants have an equal opportunity to showcase their talent in a fair and just environment," Ojwang stated. He further added, "Integrity is of utmost importance to us, and we remain committed to the support and development of grassroots football, which is the cornerstone of the Cheza Dimba tournament."

While the men's teams faced disqualification for fielding ineligible players, the women's exhibition match saw Greenblades SPASS emerge as clear winners. Their strict adherence to tournament rules and outstanding performance earned them a prestigious SportPesa sponsorship worth Ksh 250,000 per year for three years, along with home and away kits.

This sponsorship, part of the Tujiamini by SportPesa initiative, represents a significant investment in grassroots football and sports talent development. It underscores the commitment of Tujiamini by SportPesa Kenya to nurturing football talent at all levels and promoting equal opportunities in sports.

The success of Greenblades SPASS serves as an inspiration for aspiring female footballers across the region. It highlights the positive impact that initiatives like Tujiamini by SportPesa can have on sports development, particularly in women's football.

The Tujiamini initiative, a collaborative effort between SportPesa and DBA Africa, continues to uphold the highest standards of integrity in all its awards. This recent development not only showcases their dedication to fair play but also their commitment to empowering local communities through sports.

As the Tujiamini initiative looks to the future, it remains focused on delivering empowering and impactful tournaments across the region. The sponsorship of Greenblades SPASS is expected to catalyze further investment and interest in women's football, potentially transforming the landscape of the sport in Kenya and beyond.

This turn of events in the Western Cheza Dimba tournament demonstrates that even in challenging circumstances, opportunities for growth and progress in sports can emerge. It reinforces the importance of integrity in sports and the potential for football sponsorship to drive positive change in talent development and community empowerment.
